FILM
LITERATURE: Film Literature is a study of the techniques and genres of
various films and time periods.
What
you will need for this class:
Text:
None
Notebook
for notes and writing assignments
Bring
all required materials to class daily or 5 points will be deducted from
your total score.
Reasons
for point deductions: (5
points)
- SLEEPING!
Not every film may be to your liking; however, sleeping during films
or class presentations WILL NOT be tolerated.
- If
you are doing other homework during a film.
- Playing
games on your calculator or using your cell phone. (I will take it
from you)
Absent:
If you are absent, you must see me on the day you return to school so you are prepared
for the next class.
I am in the building until 3:30 on most days after school. This is the
best time to discuss assignments.
The number of days missed when absent equals the number of days given to
make up work.
I will not discuss make up work during class time.
If
you are in the building when an assignment is due, regardless if you come
to class, your assignment is still due. Do not put assignments in my
mailbox.
If
you miss part of a film due to an absence and points were given for that
film, you must make it up by viewing it in my room. It does not matter
whether you have seen it before or that you can rent it.
Late
assignments:
Worksheet assignments may be submitted one day late for half
credit.
One letter grade will be deducted for each day late on essays.
Tests:
If you are absent for a test, you must make it up on the next
Resource Period or after school unless other arrangements are made.
If you are in the building on test day but do not come to class, you are
responsible for seeing me that day to make up the test or to make other
arrangements.
For every day late one letter grade will be deducted.
Tardies
and leaving the room:
If you are not in the room when the bell rings, you are considered tardy.
On the fifth tardy you will receive a detention.
If you leave the room for any reason (restroom, drink, etc.) your
agenda must be signed. These
trips will be kept to a minimum.
Grading:
The course grades will be determined by the number of points earned in the
course on exams, quizzes, participation or other assignments. Points will
be accumulated throughout the course.
The semester grade will be determined as follows:
| First quarter |
40% |
| Second quarter |
40% |
| Final exam |
20% |
| Total |
100% |
