American Literature (2006-07) Mrs.
Schneider AMERICAN
LITERATURE Level 3: American Literature is a survey of the literary work
from Early American to Post-modernism. This course emphasizes the authors
and their works. What
you will need for this class: Bring
all required materials to class daily or 5 points will be deducted from
your total score. Absent:
If
you are absent, you must see me on the day you return to school so you are prepared
for the next class.} If
you are in the building when an assignment is due, regardless if you come
to class, your assignment is still due. Do not put assignments in my
mailbox. If
you miss part of a film due to an absence and points were given for that
film, you must make it up by viewing it in my room. It does not matter
whether you have seen it before or that you can rent it. Late
assignments: If
you are absent for a quiz or test, you must make it up on the next
Resource Period unless other arrangements are made. Tardies
and leaving the room: If you are
not in the room when the bell rings, you are considered tardy. On the
fifth tardy you will receive a detention. 5
points will be deducted if you are doing something else in my class that
is not related to what we are doing -
Example, homework for another class, playing computer games on
calculator, etc. Grading:
The course grades will be determined by the number of points earned in the
course on exams, quizzes, participation or other assignments. Points will
be accumulated throughout the course.
Schneider Homework Policy: If you do not pass the quiz on the reading assignment, I will not accept your worksheet on that particular story. The quizzes are not that difficult if you have carefully read the story! Take
responsibility as a successful learner in class. A teacher cannot make you
learn anything. Students need to decide as individuals to grow as
effective writers and readers. Assume the
responsibility to complete work and participate in class. I
became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity. E. A. Poe |
