Mrs. Delancy’s Classroom Rules and Expectations
English 9: Level III
Simple Rules to Follow:
Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings.
Be in DRESS CODE at all times.
Do NOT bring your cell phone to class.
No GUM, FOOD or DRINKS (other than water) permitted.
Follow the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would want done unto you!
Be prepared for class. (books, writing utensils, agenda, homework, etc)
Attendance Policy:
You are to be in your assigned seat by the time the tardy bell rings.
If you are late to class, you MUST have a pass to enter.
You must have YOUR agenda to leave the classroom for any reason. (Exception is for emergencies)
a. If you become excessive with the passes in your agenda (more than two times in a quarter) you will be permitted to use your agenda with a price tag of a one hour detention for each pass used.
Homework:
Homework will be assigned on a regular basis and may count into your grade. Not all homework will be collected!
Each homework assignment is due at the beginning of class. If you are absent see me the day you return to school. I will notify you of any missed work, and it is your responsibility at this time to show me any work that was due the day you were absent.
If you do NOT have your homework assignment the day it is due, you may bring it to me the following school day by 7:30 for half credit. After that time you will not receive credit for the late assignment.
You are expected to write all assignments in your agenda.
Absent Policy:
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to see me for the work you missed BEFORE our next class. I will NOT come and find you. If you do not come see me for your assignment, you will not earn credit for the assignments you missed.
If you miss a quiz or test, you must make it up before school, during SRB, or after school. Test cannot and will not be made up during class time. You must make arrangements to take the test the first day your return to school. Test must be made up within one school week from the day of your absence.
Cheating:
Cheating will NOT be tolerated. Cheating is classified as copying someone’s work (homework, projects, tests, quizzes, etc) or lending your work to someone else to copy.
Anyone caught cheating will receive a 0% for that particular grade, a double detention, and your parents will be notified.
Grading Scale:
I use the point system to grade. Homework assignments given less pointes than quizzes, tests, papers and projects.
The points will then be converted into a percentage that corresponds with the school’s 6.0 grading scale.
Each quarter is worth 45% of the final semester grade, and the final exam is worth 10% of the final semester grade.
Miscellaneous:
I will adhere to ALL policies stated in the Student Handbook located in the Memorial Student Agenda.
Grades (with the exception of papers) will be posted online within 5 school days of being turned in.
I do NOT believe in extra credit to help your grade. You should always try your personal best on all assignments, tests, and quizzes. Your grade reflects your work. Always do YOUR personal BEST!
I will post homework on my webpage of the Memorial website. Please visit www.mhs.evansville.net and click on teacher’s directory, Mrs. Delancy.
