Deacon Dave Franklin came to Memorial and joined the theology department in 1972, after team-teaching religion at St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, Ohio.  He teaches the senior level of theology, and the current chairman of the department.  deacon has served in this position since his appointment in 1980.  During his career as a religious educator at Memorial, Deacon Dave has taught all four levels of theology.  Because of his deep interest in Biblical studies, he created and organized the junior-senior elective course, The Bible in Depth, which he currently teaches.  He has served on numerous diocesan committees related to the improvement of religious education, and he is the originator of the Religious Education Profile, which is the standard religious education assessment instrument used throughout the high schools of the Catholic Diocese of Evansville.  He is a member of the National Catholic Education Association.  He also prepared and developed Memorial's religious education data, which were evaluated as a criterion for our acceptance as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

Biblical Quotation:  1 Tim 4:4-5   "For everything created by God is good,
and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving,
for it is made holy by the invocation of God in prayer."
Although in context, this quote refers to food, I am convinced
that it applies to all the wonders of life, including the beauty of nature,
and especially the joy of teaching young people.  Even though,
like all human beings, they have flaws and make mistakes,
in essence, they are good, and I receive them into
my classroom with thanksgiving.
