Course Descriptions

Mrs. Mary Kaye Falcony joined Memorial's theology department in 2001, after long-term service and experiences as the Director of Religious Education at a local, Evansville parish.  In addition, Mary Kaye came to us with eleven years of formal classroom experience.  Currently, she teaches freshmen full-time, and indicates that she enjoys religious education in a classroom setting.  To help her students understand themselves better, she exposes them to the stages of faith development, and administers a basic personality inventory, at the beginning of the school year.  Mary Kaye's teaching method creatively balances textbook content with activities which promote deep spirituality.  She finds a wide variety of innovative ways to focus students on God and faith with both their minds and hearts.  Providing opportunities for prayer and meditation for her classes is one of her strongest interests.  Mrs. Falcony organizes freshmen retreat, and helps with other student retreats.  She also supports student involvement in service to the community through sponsoring Key Club.  Mary Kaye is a member of the National Catholic Education Association and has participated in a large number of diocesan workshops in order to assess and improve religious education throughout the Evansville area.

Inspirational Quotations:  [1] "Benedictine spirituality
of community is based on life with other
persons in the spirit of Christ,
to support them, empower them, and to learn from
them."
[2] "In community, we work out our connectedness
to God, to one another, and to ourselves.
It is in community where we find out
who we really are."
